Focal Point Building Inspections is a leading Melbourne & Sunshine Coast-based building inspection services provider offering new construction inspections, pre-purchase and pre-sale inspections and dilapidation reports.
Owner/operator Shaun Pawsey is a registered builder with more than 15 years’ experience across Melbourne & Sunshine Coast’s building industry. He is a member of Master Builders Victoria, a Housesafe accredited property inspector and a qualified site manager and carpenter.
Shaun has extensive experience working across a wide range of residential, industrial and commercial construction projects. He has worked as a site manager on numerous multi-million-dollar projects, including new builds, commercial fitouts and de-fits and refurbishments.
With an in-depth knowledge of Australian Building Codes and Standards and an exceptional eye for detail and workmanship, Shaun brings the full weight of his considerable building expertise to each and every inspection.
As an independent building inspector, Shaun will work for you and look out for your interests. He’s committed to documenting the condition of each and every property in meticulous detail to ensure that you can make the most informed property sale or purchase decisions.
All building inspections are carried out in accordance with the applicable Australian Standards, the BCA and good building practices. As a registered builder, Shaun is fully qualified and insured.

Before engaging a builder, you should always check their registration to ensure that it is current and that there are no outstanding disciplinary actions against their name. What We Do
We provide comprehensive written inspection reports documenting all major and minor defects, safety hazards, minor or cosmetic repairs, ongoing maintenance requirements, potential problems and questionable workmanship. All reports are delivered within 24 hours of inspection.
We understand how stressful buying or selling a house can be. Our inspectors aim to take some of the stress out of the process by providing you with reliable, easy-to-understand information. We offer prompt service, fast turnaround on reports, and our inspectors are always available to talk you through the details of your inspection report.
No property is perfect. There will always be defects, repairs and maintenance. However, we believe that just because a house has defects, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t buy it.
